Introduction to the Fire Awareness Training Course
All staff including temporary and part-time staff should receive training and instruction. A record of all training given and training courses attended should be kept in the fire safety register as set out in the Fire Services Act.
Who should attend:
All staff other that Fire Wardens and Fire Managers.

Duration: 2 hours

Course Requirements:
No previous fire safety training required. Attendees should be qualified with QQI/FETAC Level 5 component certificate in core skills (SN2770) which includes moving and handling techniques.
Course Aims:
To provide attendants with the information and techniques required to assist the Fire Warden/Fire Marshal in the event of a fire emergency.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course you will be able to:
• Carry out fire preventation duties
• Co-ordinate emergency procedures, including fire evacuation drills
• Evacuation procedures, including escapes routes, fire alarm call points, fire fighting equipment, phased and horizontal evacuation to places of safety
• Working with Fire Marshals and assisting the Fire Brigade
• Fire doors
